Hotel Trasvilla Palace, an upscale and luxury hotel in the heart of Cantabria

I TELL YOU MY STORY

I feel good. It has been over three hundred years and I feel very well and strong to tell yyou my history ...

I am a Palatial House located in what it was one of the councils that made up the ancient valley of Carriedo, one of the Merindad of Asturias of Santillana. I am surrounded by forests and farmland with cows, but also hawks, foxes, eagles and wild boar. An area of great natural and cultural area.

When I built in the sixteenth century, at the height of the area, also were built the Gothic church of St. Peter the Apostle, in Escobedo, the Baroque church of San Juan Bautista in the Solar Villafufre and the house of the father of the writer Lope de Vega, Don Felix de la Vega y Carpio.

At the time of my finest, my palace also owned the adjoining properties. There were blocks on my land as big as my palace, oak, walnut and one of eight flour mills that existed in the township. Today,  I keep only remains of the mill, moved by the stream of Santiago and the wall that served to channel water.

The road that passes in front of my big entrance, is the “Royal Road”. More than 60 documents about my life are preserved in the Ensenada Cadastre.

Today, now a charming Palace Hotel, I keep the so-called "Four Pilgrim's" resting place for riders and pilgrims in their way to Santiago of Compostela.
